First Steps for Students

We have created the following exercises to get you used to some of the tools you'll be using as a student. If after logging in, you cannot see some of the functions listed on this page, these may have been turned off for you. DON'T WORRY! Just move onto the next one!

1. Settings

  1. Hopefully you have received an password slip from your teacher. Use this to login to eSchools, then, click on the cog in the top right corner.  Change your password to something you will REMEMBER. DO NOT tell anyone else your new password.
  2. Next, you can customise your platform with a colourful background.

2. Classes

  1. You should see your class information on your dashboard as soon as you log in. If you are connected to additional classes, you can see these pages by changing the dropdown in the top right corner.
  2. Contribute to the class chat, by clicking “My Class” at the top, then “Chat” on the left. Your teacher may have started a conversation that you can add to!

3. Messages

  1. Click on the “New Message” button at the top of your dashboard, or click on “Me”, then “New Message” at the top of this screen.
  2. Click in the “To” box. Start typing your teacher’s name. It should appear in a pop-up box. Click it to add it.
  3. Click in the “Subject”, and type the word “Test”.
  4. Click in the “Message” box and type “I’m testing the message tool.”
  5. Click the “Send” button at the bottom of the screen. You’ve sent a message to your teacher!

4. Calendar

  1. Click on the “Me” button.
  2. Click on “My Calendar” on the left.
  3. See any events that your school has added for you.

5. Files

  1. Click on the “Me” button.
  2. Click on “My Files” on the left.
  3. Now, let’s create a folder for your own work. Click on the New Folder button and create a folder called “My Work”. Add some documents here by clicking on the “Upload Files” button.
